A conference on "Environmental Applications of the IoT" was carried out in Santiago, Chile

On September 25th, 2018, a conference on Environmental Applications of the Internet of Things (IoT) was carried out within the framework of the project "Validation and Packaging of Innovations - Program of Innovation and Business R&D for Strategic Sectors with High Impact".

This project is part of an International Consortium led by the Swedish Environment Institute (IVL) in which the Mario Molina Center participates sponsored by CORFO. The objective of the project is to validate and package a prototype technology on a global scale with low-cost sensors, based on an Internet of Things (IoT) platform for environmental monitoring.

This technology will help improve the health of citizens around the world, with a Smart City approach that allows for better decision making and behavioral changes, as a result of universal access to this type of information. Theremore, it will allow the development of intelligent alerts and a greater coverage of almost immediate pollution monitoring, on the effect of the implementation of emission reduction strategies.

The conference featured presentations by our guests:
  • Bernardo Larraín Matte (SOFOFA)
  • Carolina Schmidt (Minister of the Environment)
  • Mario Molina (Nobel Prize in Chemistry 1995)
  • Fredrik Hallgren (IVL, Swedish Institute for Environmental Research)
  • Jin Moen (Program Director IoT Sweden)
