Development of a labeling system for heating equipment based on the toxicity potential of particulate matter in an indoor environment
heating system based on the potential for toxicity of the particulate material in an indoor environment.
Design and execute a campaign to measure parameters associated with the quality of the indoor and outdoor air before and after a replacement intervention of wood / pellet / kerosene / gas / electricity stoves, determine the potential for the formation of secondary intra-home aerosols , the physicochemical composition of the primary and secondary PM and their toxicity. Propose a methodology for labeling heaters based on emissions and toxicity.
The methodology used is called an “intervention” study, which consists of evaluating indicators of a base scenario (ex ante) and subsequently intervening the base scenario with new conditions (ex post), these being the different types of energy used to heat homes . A control house (100% electric house) and an intervention house (firewood / pellets / kerosene / gas / electricity) from the Maipú commune were selected for the study.
